Handmade London - two new portraits

My new Handmade London series is coming along nicely, and I've got two more portraits to share with you.

The first is Ian Burgess, the founder of Climpson and Sons Coffee Roasters in London Fields. Founded in 2005, their railway arch location now roasts 2000kg of coffee every week to supply their own cafe in Broadway Market and numerous other cafes and restaurants around the city.

The second is of Marco, the head printer at Print Club London in Dalston. Print Club are a screen printing company creating everything from fine art posters designed by some of London's leading illustrators and artists through to bespoke projects for companies and individuals. Here Marco is printing posters for the Somerset House summer film season.

You can see all the portraits in the series so far in glorious high resolution on the website here.

Dove self esteem fund shoot

Last October I shot all the imagery for the relaunch of the Dove Self Esteem Fund. The fund is set up by Unilver to help mums and teachers recognise situations where young girls can become self-consicous about their appearance, and how to then bring them up to be confident about how they look.

One of the requirements from Dove was that none of the cast could have modelled before - they had to be real people. Fiona Watson at Streetcast did a fantastic job of finding us all the mothers and daughters and teachers and pupils that we needed - an epic task with 36 models to cast in just a few weeks.

We also had to find a great school and a family home to shoot in, and Dani Bouchard at Lisa Pritchard Agency ran the production for the shoot and found us two great locations.

To pull off a shoot this big on the day requires a great team and a huge thanks goes out to Katie Higson, Tim Bowditch and Marc Pritchard for assisting and lighting, Kajsa Soderlund for styling, Emma Slater and Amy Saunders for hair and makeup, and production assistants Alexa Montgomery and Lauren Jarmey for keeping everything on track.

At last I can show some of the pictures so here you go:

Handmade London - Creative Neon

Here's another one from my Handmade London series - Rob Court at Creative Neon. Rob is a custom neon sign maker who constructs beautiful works of art in his workshop near Walthamstow. He works with artists, designers, galleries, architects, TV and theatre companies, you name it.  We spent an hour with Rob a couple of weeks ago and you couldn't hope to meet a nicer guy. Thanks Rob!

Handmade London - East London Furniture

I've decided to call my new portrait project "Handmade London", as all the people it features are artisans who create their products by hand.

The latest portrait is of Christian Dillon, the man behind East London Furniture. All their products are made from recycled materials - typically reclaimed wood from pallets, shipping containers and renovated buildings. Their simple but elegant designs are all made in their workshop in Bermondsey.

Now represented by the Lisa Pritchard Agency

I'm delighted to announce that I am now represented for assignment work by one of London's top agents, the Lisa Pritchard Agency. LPA have a great roster of photographers and it's an honour to be included among them. I know the team there well as they have produced some of my shoots in the past, so it's great to be working once more with Lisa, Alexa, Tom, Dani and Lauren.

New landscapes from Yosemite valley

Last September I spent a few days in Yosemite valley. It's somewhere I've always wanted to visit and I'm pleased to say it didn't disappoint. Here are a few landscape shots I took while I was there.
